Western Quality Concrete Purchased by Geneva Rock9/19/2007For Immediate Release Contact: Bob Carey Orem, UT, September 19, 2007 – Geneva Rock, a leader in ready-mixed concrete and rock products in Utah, announced today that it has acquired the assets of Western Quality Concrete, Inc. of Mapleton, Utah, and merged the two companies effective September 19, 2007. The combined companies will continue to operate under the name of Geneva Rock Products. “This acquisition will provide an expanded capability for Geneva Rock which builds on the talents and reputation of Western Quality. We are excited about the opportunity this provides both companies,” said Al Schellenberg, President of Geneva Rock Products. “We will continue to do the same type of work that we have done in the past and expect that our operations will grow and become even stronger under this new acquisition.” The merged firm will provide: “We’re excited about aligning ourselves with Geneva Rock,” said Allen Ellis, President, Western Quality Concrete, Inc. “Combining their resources with ours gives us additional strength to our great team so that we can service our customers even better.” Western Quality Concrete Inc. has been a locally owned firm founded in 1979 by Alan Ellis. The company has been a general engineering contracting focusing mainly on concrete pavement and street construction. Alan Ellis bring many years of experience in the concrete contracting industry and has served as president of the Utah Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association as well as serving on the Highway Committee of the Utah Chapter of the Associated General Contractors organization. Western Quality Concrete has performed work throughout Utah and into surrounding states. Western Quality has employed approximately 65 people who will become employees of Geneva Rock In 1954, Geneva Rock Products opened its doors for business and has grown into one of the largest suppliers of ready-mixed concrete in the state of Utah employing approximately 1,000 people. Based in Orem, Utah, it has 18 locations with ready-mix concrete plants and gravel operations all along the Wasatch Front and northern Utah, to serve the construction community. Geneva Rock has a proud tradition of being a locally owned company with strong ties to the communities in which it operates.
