W.W. Clyde & Co. and Geneva Rock Products Win Awards at Annual AGC Convention

SALT LAKE CITY – The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Utah recognized W.W. Clyde & Co. and its sister company, Geneva Rock Products, with two different awards at the AGC of Utah Annual Convention on Saturday in Salt Lake City. The annual awards ceremony honors companies and construction projects that exemplify the AGC's motto of skill, integrity and responsibility. The awards include:
  • W.W. Clyde & Co.: "Best Utility Project of the Year" for the $24 million Spanish Fork Canyon Pipeline-Reach 1 project.
  • Geneva Rock Products: "$50+ Million Highway Project of the Year" for the $73.5 million SR-68 Bangerter Highway to Saratoga Springs design-build project.
The Spanish Fork Canyon Pipeline-Reach 1 project is a 2.3-mile long, 96-inch diameter welded steel pipeline, part of which goes under US-6 in Spanish Fork Canyon. A part of the overall Central Utah Project Completion Act (CUPCA), the completed pipeline will deliver 30,000 acre-feet of water to Salt Lake and Utah counties. Construction of the pipeline included dewatering in several areas due to high water tables and at some points, working within feet of live traffic along busy US-6.

The SR-68 Bangerter Highway to Saratoga Springs design-build project was completed to significantly improve safety and alleviate congestion between Draper and Saratoga Springs along Redwood Road. The major items of work on this project included project design, acquisition of 220 right-of-way parcels, widening the existing roadway to two lanes in each direction, adding a center turn lane and widening the roadway's shoulders to accommodate bike lanes.

The Annual AGC Convention awards ceremony honors companies, personnel and projects in more than 25 categories. The AGC is a construction trade association of the state's leading general contractors and industry associates.
