Tuhaye, development earthwork

About

Geneva Rock was awarded this project under Clawson General Contracting. The project included 250,000 cubic yards of excavation, mostly in hard rock. This is the latest community subdivision for the Tuhaye development in Wasatch County. The project consisted of two earthwork phases that were completed in the Spring of 2023.

Challenges

Keeping the drilling and blasting operations ahead of the earth-moving activities was the most challenging aspect of this project. From the beginning of the job, we worked in a very physically demanding environment that was hard on heavy equipment operators, especially the dozer operators. The equipment used was also pushed to its max potential. We have a great group of team members that have stuck with it throughout the project. To stay on schedule, team members worked through the cold winter and snow. With the majority of the construction area being in hard rock, rock drilling and blasting were a weekly event throughout the duration of the project.

Thanks

Our management group of worked hard to keep the momentum going through many challenges. Special thanks goes to the operators who showed up every day to really make this happen.
