Geneva Rock History

W.W. CLYDE & CO.
W.W. CLYDE & CO.

The Clyde business ventures started with the formation of W.W. Clyde & Co., a partnership between brothers Wilford W. Clyde, Ed Clyde, and Harry Clyde. As heavy civil construction contractors, they provided construction services throughout the Intermountain West

W.W. Clyde purchased a small service station in Springville. Right next door, he went on to establish Utah Service, adding a hardware store and lumber yard. This business would later become Sunroc Corporation and Sunpro Corporation.

Geneva Rock was formed to provide ready-mix concrete for the Wasatch Front community. It would eventually add asphalt, sand, and gravel products, plus a variety of construction services, including excavation, utility work, and paving to the portfolio.

Through the Hansen brothers, Geneva Rock successfully leased the land for the Point of the Mountain pit to commence mining activity to extract critical infrastructure materials.

Acquisition

In 1990, Geneva Rock successfully acquired land at the Point of the Mountain. With the permitted rights to mine, materials could be extracted from the mine for decades to come.

Land Dedication

Clyde Companies strategically created a 147-acre land swap in partnership with the State of Utah for the Flight Park State Recreation Area. Every year, hundreds of hang-gliders and paragliders recreate at the Flight Park.
