A native of Ecuador, Franklin Aragundi had no idea what he wanted to end up doing in life before he moved to the United States.

“Honestly, my mentality growing up was one of just hoping to make it to the age of 18,” Franklin said. “There’s so much violence there. Thinking about that and where I’m at now with a beautiful wife, kids, and home, it has just been a dream come true, and Geneva Rock’s a big part of that.”

Franklin’s journey with the company began when looking for a career change 17 years ago. His wife, who worked at Geneva Rock’s Orem office, suggested he consider driving a mixer truck for the company. Franklin was hesitant at first but decided to give it a try. Geneva Rock provided him with the necessary training to obtain his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and he hasn’t looked back since.

“I love being out on the road and seeing the projects we’ve worked on,” Franklin said. “Every day is different, and you get to see a lot of things that you wouldn’t normally see. It’s really satisfying to know that I played a part in making those things happen.”

Franklin has learned to truly love what he does every day. While it may not be for everyone, he has found an incredibly fulfilling career with the company

“I love this job; I love driving,” Franklin said. “It’s not just about getting from point A to point B. It’s more about doing it safely and efficiently. There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with this job. You have to be aware of your surroundings, be a defensive driver, and communicate effectively with the other drivers on the road.”

Currently, Franklin helps train new team members joining his crew. Together, they learn the Geneva Rock way to “Build Better.”

“It’s one of my favorite things to do,” Franklin said. “I love being part of the success of new team members coming in. I’m also part of the Clyde Influencer Program, which allows me to share on social media all the great things we’re doing at Geneva Rock. It really helps others see what kind of a career you can have at this company.”

Franklin’s commitment to his craft hasn’t gone unnoticed by other team members.

“He’ll go to any length to help somebody out at work,” said Brandon Albrecht, Delivery and Customer Service Manager. “He’s a trainer, he’s a union steward, and he’s an influencer for Clyde Companies. He’s just an all-around great guy and phenomenal employee. Franklin’s pretty much an open book. You get what you see when you talk with Franklin.”

Looking back on his career, Franklin is grateful for the opportunities Geneva Rock has provided him.

“It’s been a great company to work for, and I’ve made a lot of lifelong friends here,” Franklin said. “I feel fortunate to have found a job I love that allows me to provide for my family.”

As Franklin gears up for his 18th season with Geneva Rock, he’s excited to continue doing what he loves and helping in Building a Better Community one load of concrete at a time.

“This is where I really started my career, and this is where I want to finish it,” Franklin said. “I love every single member here. I love to help people succeed in this. That’s my goal and my joy in life.”
